Golden Keys China members’ visit to the Zhangjiakou Winter Olympics Venues

The volunteer recruitment for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Service Team has commenced. With the momentous event fast approaching, here is a glimpse into Golden Keys members’ visit to the competition venues in Zhangjiakou during last year’s 25th Annual Congress (North Region).

Chongli, a district of Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province, which is 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing, has become a popular skiing destination as it will host most of the skiing events at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Backed by the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia, Chongli has a beautiful natural landscape and unique tourism resources with 740,000 mu of secondary forest, where it has become a popular destination for ecotourism.

“Snow Ruyi”, the most significant landmark in Chongli.

As its S-shaped ski track resembles the traditional Chinese ornament “Ruyi”, the National Ski Jumping Centre is called “Snow Ruyi”, a unique Chinese cultural expression of the Winter Olympic Games. In order to guarantee the look and feel, “Snow Ruyi” was built in between the valleys with an extremely narrow surface.
